More Marvin Fund Successes …

Raisin and Fila

Raisin was our Chinese Shar-Pei that arrived here as yet another stray. However, Raisin suffered from a severe case of entropian which, if it had been left untreated, could have led to the complete loss of his vision. In fact, his case was so severe that a specialist was needed to perform the surgery! Most organizations would have euthanized Raisin, but thanks to Marvin’s Fund and with the help of Dr. Wiggins at Four Paws Animal Hospital, we were able to prevent this wonderful dog from going blind. A month after his surgery Raisin found his dream home where he still currently resides.

Fila originally came to us as a stray back in October of 2008. Right away we could tell that something wasn’t quite right with her. She was coughing excessively and seemed to tire out easily. The medical team at CGHS/SPCA and Chatham Small Animal Hospital immediately ran some tests and discovered that Fila was infested with Heartworms, a condition that would kill her unless treatment was provided. Art and Roz Brown (shown at left with Fila and Ron Perez), longtime supporters and friends, made a generous donation to Marvin’s Fund which was used to save this beautiful dog’s life. If it wasn’t for those donations and the hard work of Dr. laCouer at Chatham Small Animal Hospital, Fila would not have survived and find a home.
