Surrender A Pet

Since our founding in 1955, CGHS/SPCA has offered surrender services to residents of Columbia and Greene Counties. It is difficult for both owner and pet when an unforeseen or unavoidable circumstance arises that results in the surrendering or pet(s).

CGHS/SPCA offers surrender services by appointment only. We accept surrenders of dogs, puppies, cat, kittens, rabbits, small animals, birds, exotics, and large animals. CGHS/SPCA does not euthanize for space constraints, so all surrender acceptances are dictated by the amount of space available at the shelter. Our staff will make every attempt to assist you with the surrender of your pet. We do ask you to be understanding if you need to wait until space is available.

Before you surrender you pet, we suggest you contact the following resources for
possible assistance.
