On August 2, 2014, guests will depart from the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA’s Summer Paw Picnic well fed, entertained, and toting treasures won at two separate auctions. But the real winners will be homeless and abused animals.
CGHS/SPCA holds its tenth annual Summer Paw Picnic that day, at the new state-of-the-art facility located at 111 Humane Society Road, next to the original shelter in Claverack, NY. The day includes a catered traditional picnic, a silent auction, a live arts auction, raffles, a wildlife demonstration, non-stop music by King of the Forest, and activities for children.
“Since the picnic’s inception, thousands of people have helped raise over $250,000, and we deeply appreciate the support from our community,” said Humane Society President Ron Perez Jr. Tickets are $50 for adults, $5 for children under 12. Purchase information can be found below.
Founded in 1955, the CGHS/SPCA provided shelter and other services for over 1,000 stray, abandoned, neglected, and unwanted cats and dogs last year. The organization is committed to finding a new, loving home for every animal that comes to its doors in Hudson. No cat or dog is ever euthanized because of space constraints.
CGHS/SPCA depends solely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and organizations to carry on its work. To purchase tickets to the Summer Paw Picnic, help support the shelter, learn about opportunities for volunteers, inquire about adopting a new family member, or to tour the brand new boarding and doggy day care center, please contact CGHS/SPCA by phone at (518) 828-6044 or by visiting the shelter at 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson NY 12534.
