Two local Columbia County residents, Deborah Tuttle and Mike Daley, held their P.A.W. event on September 23 to collect food and supplies for the Columbia-Greene Humane Society. This event is in its third year, and as Mike states, “It continues to grow each year.” Both Deborah and Mike hold a deep love and appreciation for animals, and with the recent hurricanes, they wanted to step it up a notch to provide much-needed supplies to care for them.
“Our goal was set at 1,000 lbs. of food and supplies, well, we blew that out of the water and just hit 2,000 lbs. Everyone came out in a big way. We host the appreciation party for those that donate. We know that people are so busy, some of our guests stop by just to drop off supplies, others stay and visit for a while, it’s all good. The weather was perfect” said Deborah Tuttle.
This year they added twelve gift baskets to raffle off. “I was so pleased with the generosity from our local community that willingly gave to this. The vendors that contributed were Chatham Hardware, For Pets Sake, Amal- Massage, BonStar Fitness, Banner Clothing, Brown’s Shoe Store, Chatham Book Store, drink, Lords N Ladies Hair Studio, Don Boutin, Nikki Hughes-Trainer Fit, East Chatham Liquor Store, East Chatham Food Company. In addition, we also received cash donations from Mary Blass, Chris Shaw- in loving memory of his sister, TJ Blass, Ted Aluise, Jim King, Peter Glovinsky, Joe Thorne and Holly Willis, that came to just over $500. We are planning on hosting another event next September before the weather turns. This event grows each time through the generosity of local businesses and guests that support this. We are deeply appreciative to all that stop by and support this cause.”
