From the South
Take the NY State Thruway to Exit 21 (Catskill) and follow signs to the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow Route 23 to the left. Continue past Columbia-Greene Community College and go through the traffic light. Continue on Route 23 until you come to the next set of lights; turn left on Route 9H North. (Note that Route 9 will take you to this intersection if you are coming from Dutchess County.) Continue on Route 9H until you reach the traffic light at County Route 18 (Fish and Game Road). Turn left on to Route 18 (West) and continue until you reach Route 66 (at the end of Route 18). Turn right on Route 66 and continue about 0.3 miles until you see Humane Society Road and a sign for the Shelter on the left. Take this left. The Shelter is the first set of buildings on your left.
From the West
Take Route 23 East to the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Follow the directions above, picking up at “Cross the bridge . . .”
From the East
Take Route 23 West to the intersection with Route 9H in Claverack. Turn right at the light onto Route 9H North. Follow the instructions as if coming from the south, picking up at “Continue on Route 9H . . .”
From the North
Take Interstate 90 East to Exit 12 (Hudson). Take Route 9 South and continue 4.6 miles, until you get to until you get to the rotary. Take the second right onto Route 9H South. Continue on Route 9H South for 11.3 miles. At the first traffic light, turn right on Route 66. Continue for 1.2 miles, until you see Humane Society Road and a sign for the Shelter on your right. Take this Right; the Shelter is the first set of buildings on your left.
