Gabriel Tajeu, currently of Birmingham, Alabama, returns to his native state of New York for this benefit concert. Soul Tracks music critic J. Matthew Cobb’s review of Gabriel’s second album “Southern Skies” (2016) heralds Gabriel as a standout in a crowd of Southern indie soul performers, delivering his fusion of soft rock, folk and R&B with a smooth and easy listening style. Gabriel’s styling, phrasing and use of harmonies reflect R&B legends Al Green and Marvin Gaye, while his writing has been profoundly influenced by the likes of Ben Harper, John Mayer, Joni Mitchell, and Elvis Costello. Gabriel’s albums “Finding My Way” and “Southern Skies” were Soul Tracks critic picks for best albums in 2013 and 2016 along with well-known artists such as John Legend, Macy Gray, Bruno Mars, and Tamar Braxton.
Gabriel will be presenting his music acoustically, sharing some of the inspirations and stories behind the songs, and playing some of his favorite covers.
