Claverack, NY

The Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA has taken in five dogs from Florida to assist other shelters with displaced dogs associated with Hurricane Irma.

The dogs received by CGHS/SPCA were previously in shelters in Florida, and transferred to New York so there would be room for owned Floridian dogs that needed housing as a result of the hurricane. All dogs were examined by CGHS/SPCA Medical Director Dr. Jerry Bilinski, and found to be healthy, well-tempered dogs.

People interested in adopting one (or more) of these dogs can get pre-approved by filling out an adoption application on the shelter’s website at cghs.org. All adopted dogs will be up to date on vaccines, disease-tested, and spayed or neutered. The dogs’ ages are as follows

Sydney: 2 year old female

Dioga: 3 year old male

Nina: 3 year old female

Kingston: 4 year old male

Tommy: 3-4 year old male
