Help us find Penny’s Owner

$500 Reward Offered

1/15/18 – Hudson NY

The Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA is asking the public for their help in locating the person or persons that are responsible for a horrible act of animal cruelty to a dog from the Earlton area. Now named “Penny,” she was found abandoned in Earlton, which is a hamlet in the Town of Coxsackie in Greene County. Penny has a severe case of mange and secondary infections in her skin. She a was apparently left on the side of the road on or near Schoharie Turnpike in Earlton. Fortunately, she made her way to a house and the owners called animal control. She was brought to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA in Hudson where she was examined, and treatment was started.

The owner could be facing multiple animal cruelty charges, which are class A misdemeanors. If found guilty, the owner could be sentenced to a year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. “Due to her condition she’s lost the majority of her hair, and coupled with her compromised health, Penny could’ve easily succumbed to the frigid conditions. Penny is a gentle, sweet dog that deserves a better life than she’s had thus far,” said CGHS/SPCA President Ron Perez.

With continued treatment and lots of “TLC,” Penny should make a full recovery, and will, in time, be available for adoption.

People wishing to donate to help Penny with her rehabilitation can donate through the shelter’s website at www.cghs.org, or mail contributions to CGHS/SPCA, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY, 12534 – Attn: Penny.

Penny is a female pitbull mix, 2-3 years old, with a brown coat and weighing approximately 50 pounds. Anyone with any information about Penny, please call the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at (518) 943-3300.

There will be a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the plight of Penny.
